Banksy Style Anarchy Rat Stencil

Another charachterful little rat from Banksy. This stencil is available in a range of sizes (see chart below) for use on any surface including walls, fabric and furniture, see pictures and Gallery for inspiration and colour ideas.

The Anarchy Rat is a single layer stencil, meaning that all parts of the design are cut from one sheet, when you paint it the whole design is transferred onto the wall/surface in one go. Different areas of the stencil can be painted different colours, however, Banksy style stencils look better when only one or two colours are used. Graffiti artists use spray paint for their stenciling but you could use any type of paint you like.

Decorating with stencils is fast, cost effective and fun, use a single stencil repeatedly or mix and match designs to get the look you want. Please remember that it is ilegal to use your stencils on walls which do not belong to you!

TECHNICAL STUFF

Cut from 125 micron polyester Mylar. Mylar is a semi-transparent strong flexible plastic film, reusable, washable and suitable for use with all types of paint including spray paint. This film is very strong and thin allowing for very close contact to the surface you are working on. Rough surfaces may not be suitable for stenciling.

Stencils can be cleaned with warm water, soap or paint remover. It is not necessary to clean the stencil after every use although some areas of a design may clog with paint after multiple uses. To clean, lay flat and scrub or rub gently with appropriate paint remover and a soft scrubbing brush. Store stencils flat.

HOW TO USE

Lay the stencil in place, secure with masking tape or spray mount and paint with a stencil brush, sponge, roller or spray paint, remove the stencil, resposition and continue to paint until the desired effect is achieved. For more information look at our How To pages. We used spray mount adhesive to secure our stencil in the pictures above and acrylic paint and a stencil brush.

For an authentic 'Banksy' look use spray paints, we don't sell spray paints but they are widely available from art and DIY stores, ask the store for advice about the products they stock.
